Tourist bus collides with truck in Sri Lanka, killing driver and injuring 19

COLOMBO — A bus carrying a group of foreign tourists collided with a cement truck on the Southern Expressway of Sri Lanka on Friday morning, killing the bus driver and injuring approximately 19 tourists, according to local police.

Police spokesman K.B. Manathunga said the crash occurred between Beliatta and Aparekka in the Southern Province, when the bus, traveling at high speed, slammed into the back of the truck.

The injured tourists were transported to a regional hospital for treatment. It was reported that about 30 tourists were on board the bus at the time of the accident.
